As of 6/13/09 there is a lot of road work going on and the pull off by the cemetery is gone.
---------------------------------

PUD #66 is in the Sharp Hill Cemetery at the corner of Sharp Hill Rd and Rt 7/33. This is just south of the town hall and about ½ mile north of where 7 and 33 split. There is a pull off area by the cemetery gate on Sharp Hill Rd. When you enter, check out the great wooden gate. There are a lot of wonderful slate stones here with the writing and carving still very legible. Also, there are more carved footstones here than we’ve seen in any other cemetery. The stones generally date from the 1700s and 1800s.

Clues to box: Enter through the wooden gate and pass the ashes of Katharine Spencer. Head WNW to the big stump. Stop on the way to real about Rev. William Gaylord. (We used the mirror trick that we recently learned and it helped a lot in reading the stone.) From the stump head in a northerly direction along the edge of the cemetery until you come to Elizabeth Lockwood (1770). Go left continuing to follow the edge. At John Hurlbutt’s foot go left straight to the wall. Now go left about 20 adult steps. Here you’ll find the latest daisy under the rocks in front of the wall.

Please be very careful of this wall. You shouldn’t need to pull any rocks out.

Enjoy the shade here while you stamp in. Rehide well.
