Directions:
Locate Kirkwood Gardens, 900 Rt. 3, Holderness, NH
Look for the sign out front just north of Rt. 113 on Rt. 3.
Kirkwood Gardens Free to the Public
Please park in the back.
History:
The Kirkwood Garden was dedicated August 31, 1996 in honor of Grace H. (“Sunny”) Kirkwood. It is part of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. I know you will enjoy this beautiful spot in the lakes region as much as I do.
Clue:
Find your way into the gardens.
Find the pergola.
The pergola is in memory of Harold L. Pierson and Margery Green Pierson.
Stand in the center of the pergola and face the fountain.
Look ahead and walk in that direction up two sets of steps.
On the wall locate the boards for “What’s Blooming” or “Birds Heard or Seen in Kirkwood Garden” --now turn back around.
Spy a path at about 1 o’clock and take it.
At the end look around for the stepping stones.
Go ahead, walk that path.
Look ahead, do not go through the gate. Look slightly left to a large stump and the boulder beyond it.
Treasure is behind the boulder under a log.
Please be sure to hide the box well and try to be discreet.
