7/10/10 MYOSOTIS ALPESTRIS PULLED FOR MAINTENANCE...THE TREE IT WAS UNDER FELL DOWN...

Rachel Carson Conservation Park is at 22201 Zion Road, about 1/10 of a mile from Sundown Road.

Park facing the bulletin board and begin your hike up the hill onto Fox Meadow Loop. Stay on Fox Meadow Loop (not right onto Rachel Carson Greenway yet), up the hill along the edge of the forest.

Go right onto Hidden Pond Trail (blue blaze trail). Stay on this trail and pass the hidden pond. At the ‘T’ go left. At the ‘Y’ go right (staying on Hidden Pond Trail).

Then go right onto Rachel Carson Greenway Trail. At the 2nd blue blaze, walk to the large protruding rock on the right, about 10 paces (one normal-sized step) off the trail.

Face the rock and take a reading of 280° Walk to that 2-in-1 tree.

With the 2-in-1 at your back (rocks and hill in front of you), take a reading of 330° to the dead tree protruding from vertical rock formations about 17 paces away.

Myosotis Alpestris is under a SPOR behind this dead tree on the uphill side. Note: there are 2 stamps in the bag.

Go back down the hill to Rachel Carson Greenway Trail, and continue the way you were headed – i.e.: it is a loop trail, so go right onto the trail. The next sign will show you the way to the Trail Head. Continue to follow Rachel Carson Greenway Trail out to Fox Meadow Loop. Go left onto Fox Meadow Loop to your car.

Please be discreet in your hunt. Beware of Muggles – many use this park! Also, be kind to nature and practice “Leave No Trace.”

Box on!
