This summer Snoopy had done a lot of traveling but looking for one last summer trip he set out once again. He headed north. After arriving in Clarksville,Tennesee he learned about Wilma Rudolph. On September 7th, 1960, in Rome, Wilma became the first American woman to win 3 gold medals in the Olympics. She won the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and ran the anchor on the 400-meter relay team!Since the Olympics are going on right now in China it was thrilling to learn this bit of history. Her accomplishments brought on a since of national pride and it's inspiring to see her memorial there!

To find him quietly applauding her achievments drive to Clarksville, Tennessee. Once in Clarksville travel to McGregor Park on N.Riverside Drive. Turn off of N.Riverside and enter the "Gateway to the New South" at the corner of College and Spring Street. Walk over the riverwalk breezeway passing under the flags overhead. Go downstairs and read about Wilma. Circle around behind her and look out at the river in the semi-circle outlook section of the sidewalk. From the center of the area your standing in turn and look over your right shoulder. About 10 to 15 steps behind you diagonally is a cement ledge. Sit on it and with your right hand gently reach for Joe Cool. He is nestled in the ground cover there.
