This box is located at the Clackamas Lake Historical Ranger Station located near Timothy Lake in the beautiful Mt. Hood National Forest.
Take some time to stop in at the visitor information center in the old District Ranger's Office. Enjoy hearing about the history of this ranger station as told by Ranger Larry (or whomever may be there to give the talk.) Outside of the District Ranger's Office walk down the original road as build by the pioneer and first explorer of this area. (Please e-mail me his name if you take the tour; I made the mistake of not writing it down.) Look to your left for the remains of the old Protection Assistant's Residence, the "Honeymoon Cabin" that burned down in 2003.
The Clackamas Lake Historical Ranger Station can be found in the remains of this old cabin, just below the stone hearth on the right hand side behind a loose rock.
Enjoy.
