We love the Cape. We come here from Connecticut at least three times a year. We do more letterboxing on the Cape than everywhere else combined. Accordingly, we call this Our Home Away from Home letterbox.

Dragonfly Hunter and Bag Lady

From Route 6A in Dennis turn onto Scargo Hill Road. Take a right onto a gravel road to “Princess Beach Conservation Lands” (across from Mariner Road). (To read about the Cape Cod Mermaid and Scargo Princess refer to the Cape Cod Mermaid Birthday Letterbox.) Park in the lot and walk back down the gravel road. You will come to a large rock guarding two posts signifying the entrance to the trail. Follow the trail until a fork. Take the right fork and continue. You will soon come to another gravel road. Cross it and continue on the trail until you see a tree fallen at an angle at the right side of the trail. Look directly across the trail to a snag (dead tree) riddled with woodpecker holes. Behind the snag you will see two fallen trees on the ground forming an X. X marks the spot where the Our Home Away from Home letterbox is hidden.

Be sure to check out the beach at Scargo Lake just past the parking lot. You may also want to climb the Scargo Tower while you are in the neighborhood. After you leave the Princess Beach Conservation Lands take a right on Scargo Hill Road. In a short distance you will see a road on the right leading to the Tower.
