This series is hidden at the Greensprings Greenway Hiking Trail.
To reach by way of 64:
Take either of the 2 exits for 199 - go about 3 or 4 miles - depending on which exit you take.
Turn west onto John Tyler Memorial Highway ( Route 5 )
Go about 3 miles - turn left at the entrance of Jamestown High School.
Stay on road ( school will be on your right) to small parking lot.
Go to trailhead - at end of parking lot - pick up a map in mailbox. (Also grab some doggie bags if you have 4 legged friends with you ) There are 30 Interpretive sign on the trail.
The day we were here looking for hiding spots, we saw lots of turtles, herons, lizards, and deer - 4 does and 5 bucks, and lots of different birds.
Box #1 Serenity
Start on trail - signs 1-5 will be on this leg. Also a memorial stone. Walk till you get to the Main Loop marker - take trail to the right. Take about 20 steps from marker - there is a fallen tree on the left. Look behind the thickest part - you will find LB.
Please seal well and rehide with bark, sticks and leaves. Be careful when finding and hiding LB you may be seen.
Box #2 The Ancient One
Continue on trail - signs 6-12 on this leg. When you come to fork in trail - go left on to boardwalk. Walk to the far end of boardwalk. Go around right side of railing - walk about 9 steps. At the point where the boardwalk changes angels look under - Here will be the LB.
Please seal well and rehide with bark, sticks and leaves. Be careful when finding and hiding LB you may be seen.
Box #3 Sun Goddess
Continue on trail to next boardwalk - at stop sign turn left. (Watch for bikes!) At end of boardwalk, trial will be blacktop. Look for Main Loop marker - turn left off of blacktop onto gravel trial. From marker count about 116 steps - turn right. You will see an arched tree - walk under tree then between 2 small trees. The next tree on your right is the one you want. Look in the hollow behind tree for the LB. If you have trouble finding - it is about 23 steps from gravel.
Please seal well and rehide with bark, sticks and leaves. Be careful when finding and hiding LB you may be seen.
Box #4 Blowin’ in the Wind
Go back to gravel trail - continue on, signs 14-24 are on this leg. Stay on trail - walk under arched tree, right after tree there is a sign for ‘Unique Tree’ (make sure you read - very interesting!) You are almost there. Continue until you find a bench on the right side of trail. ( You will be able to see the Main Loop marker ahead on the trail - from where you stand) Sitting on bench - look to the left. Find the fallen tree - about 8 steps from the bench. Where the fallen tree meets the live tree - look behind - the LB you will find.
**** Take extra care to rehide this one - make sure it is not visible under log - from trail) ****
Please seal well and rehide with bark, sticks and leaves. Be careful when finding and hiding LB you may be seen
Back to parking lot
Continue on trail - at Main Loop marker turn left. At next Main Loop marker turn left again. At next Main Loop marker stay on trail. Signs 25-30 are on this leg. Look for the swamp area on the right side of trail - your headed the right way. Find the ‘Fallen Tree’ sign - this is the last sign - almost done! Find the next Main Loop marker (this is where you started - 1st LB) Turn right - follow trail to the parking lot.
