I figure there must be 568,078 Mill Creeks in the English speaking countries. Here’s another. I have no idea what sort of mill this one was named for, but it’s a pretty walk with a great view. Maybe 35 minutes on your way up, maybe 25 minutes on your return.

From Hwy. 101 in the Ukiah area head off the freeway toward Talmage. When you reach the big fancy gates turn right. At the first opportunity turn left and do so heading up, up, up where the cows purportedly go. From this junction you will be driving about 2.3 miles passing a spot that discourages dumping, past a small dam and a low green wall with 12 gray poles. When you reach the 8 green poles on a long, low green wall pull in and park. Walk a short way further until you reach a trail with a valley view. Lots of up on the way to the box, lots of down on your return trip.

You’ll know you’re on the right track when you pass 2/9 on your right followed by 5/7. Caution and danger! Don’t let this stop you!! Keep on keeping on past 6. If you want to rest at the bench do so, but take care of loose boards.

After awhile you will note in front of you at the end of a straight stretch of trail but at a steep bend a rock out-cropping that looks sort of like a big chair. You can’t miss it on the left side of the trail. At the back on the west or left side under a large flat rock you will find the Mill Creek Letterbox.

Thanks for coming!
