Mondo Pond is actually six connected ponds with winding trails, used by both the public for fishing and easy hiking and by local school kids as an augment to their education.

The entrance that you want to start from is the West Avenue entrance (JFK Elementary School's parking lot is conveniently located there - open to all during non-school hours).

Directions:
From I95 Southbound: Get off at Exit 35. Take a right off the exit and travel to the first traffic light. That will be West Ave. Take a right at that light. JFK will be approx. 1 block on the left.

From I95 Northbound: Get off at Exit 35. Take a left off the exit and travel to the first traffic light. That will be West Ave. Take a right at that light. JFK will be approx. 1 block on the left.

At the JFK entrance to the Mondo Pond Trails, take a right. Follow the trail, passing under the leaning widow maker. Continue on the trail, stopping at the giant’s tall piney slingshot on your left.

At the piney slingshot, look down for a fallen tree pointing the way to the hidden letterbox, tucked away safely. Lucky box - it's got a waterview.

Some words of caution: During skeeter season, use lots of bug spray. Keep a sharp eye out for poison ivy. Houses surround the site and fishermen line the water's edge during the season, so take extra care when retrieving, stamping, signing the logbook, and returning the letterbox.

Be sure to reseal all baggies and rehide well.

If you have time, walk the trails. Restoring the wooden bridge and replacing mulch was a Boy Scout Troop 721 scout’s Eagle Project.
