THIS BOX HAS BEEN REMOVED- OCTOBER 2015.
THIS BOX HAS BEEN REPLACED ON APRIL 1, 2013 Go to St Simons Island Georgia. Locate the John Gilbert Nature Trail on Frederica Rd. It is located apx. 1/2 mile south of the Sea Island causeway on the east side of Frederica Rd. Follow the trail path to the large spreading Oak tree.(John's Oak) look to the right and continue on a smaller path. Pass a very large oak tree with a birdhouse on it and then a very tall pine tree on the right side of path. Follow the path as it curves to the left. Stop on the path as soon as you can see the wooden bridge. Look to your right to a group of trees on a small rise. Locate the tree with a triple trunk. The box is located behind the U under the leaves and large branch. Relax on the bench near the bridge while stamping. After replacing the box and COVERING IT WELL, continue across the bridge to the end of the walkway to view the marsh where the fiddler crabs live. The crabs can be best seen at LOW TIDE in the mud at the marshes edge and along the creek IN THE WARM WEATHER.

This trail is part of the St Simons Land Trust. You can join the SS Land trust and help to preserve more of the beauty of St Simons Is. www.sslt.org
