While visitng North Head Lighthouse we were taken with the story of Mary, the Keepers wife. The story says that Mary went for a walk one evening and never came back. Some have seen Mary getting ready for bed in the upper window of the keepers house.
Park in the lot at the North Head Lighthouse.
Take the main trail to the lighthouse. Enjoy the view and perhaps a tour of the lighthouse ($1 from 11:00 to 3:00). Follow the lightkeepers trail back to the house just as Mary would have. When you come into view of the Keepers house take three steps down. Find the disappearing trail to your left and follow it to it's end at the bushes. Walk along the bushes to your right to the end of a large propane tank. The box is hidden under the tank, concealed by the bushes near the end.
Be sure to look for Mary in her bedroom window.
Be very stealthy as this can be a busy area. Rehide the box well.
