Originally planted by Rubaduc and adopted in January 2012 by The Quackers.
Just under 0.2 miles east of Cobble Road on route 44 is a sign marking the crossing of the Appalachian Trail. There’s room for several cars to pull over to the side and park here.
After parking, go over a stonewall. Turn left and follow the edge of the field into the woods. The beginning of the hike is a pretty good uphill climb but not too much for a mountain goat. Follow the white blazes for just a bit over three miles until you come to Billy’s View. The spot is marked by a sign high on a tree to the left and a bare rock surface to rest on, but most of the view is blocked by trees. After resting, continue on white, going downhill into a “dip” coming to an old woods road(?) . Take this to the left, passing an A.T. boundary marker on the left and look for a low spot in the wall on the right. Go through the wall and look behind a trap door under the fallen log for “Billy”.
Be careful, you can be seen from both directions on the A.T.
