The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. began operations in January of 1991 serving locally-produced beers and hearty pub-style cuisine in a warm, friendly, family atmosphere. In October 1992, the newly constructed ten barrel-sized brewery rolled out its first barrel of beer under the watchful eye of Brew master Jon B. Graber. Eight distinctive ales are produced by the marriage of pure glacial water, Pacific Northwest grown barley and hops, and the inspiration of the brewers. Mt. Hood Brewery has been founded upon the notion that, like the best wines, bakery goods, and other perishable products, beer is best produced in small, hand-crafted batches with the highest quality ingredients obtainable; and sold for consumption very close to its source. With this concept in mind, the brewery has been kept intentionally small and the geographical range of its distribution within Oregon borders. Located on the 1st floor of the Ice Axe Grill, many have enjoyed the pub that has now become an institution on the south slope of Mt. Hood. I highly recommend trying the Ice Axe Pale Ale after finding this box, which is located at Trillium Lake, where several other letterboxes reside.

Directions:
For the letterbox, drive about 2 miles southeast from Government Camp on Hwy 26 and follow the signs for Trillium Lake. Park near the dam or either boat launch. For the Mt. Hood Brewery, go to Ice Axe Grill at 87304 Government Camp Loop in Government Camp.

Clues:
Walking clockwise around the lake, cross the dam and continue on the trail down and to the right, crossing a boardwalk right away. Continue about 100 yards to a boardwalk so small you could jump across. Continue 30 steps to a tree on the right side of the trail with a sign from your host. Continue 25 steps and look left for a large stump with live trees on either side about 15 steps off trail. Walk around the left side and look on the right side as you face the back of the stump. The letterbox is in a crevice about 3 feet high under bark and a rock. Please replace as described and be discreet.
