Glass fishing floats are hollow glass balls or cylinders containing air to give them buoyancy and were once used by fishermen in many parts of the world to keep their nets afloat. These glass floats are no longer being used by fisherman, but many of them are still afloat in the oceans, primarily the Pacific, and have become a popular collector's item for beachcombers. Most floats found on the Pacific coast originated in Japan because of its large fishing industry. Almost any beach in Oregon is a good place to look for one of these baubles, but you can find this minibox at Cape Arago State Park.

Directions:
From Coos Bay, follow the Cape Arago Hwy past Sunset Bay SP, Shore Acres SP and Simpson Reef, to where the road ends at Cape Arago SP. Continue around to the left past the first trail head and the picnic pavilion and park on the right by the Intertidal trail head.

Clues:
Walk down the trail for about 50 yards to a bench on the right. From there, look down at the trail as it winds down to the beach. Find the gap between 2 fences and the large tree between them on the uphill side. This is your destination. The minibox is behind the tree at its base under bark and a rock. You will have to climb up the left side to reach the box, so please be careful and discreet. There is another bench at an overlook just 20 yards further on the trail where you can stamp in, and the beach is worth checking out, too. Replace as described.
