Part of the GAQLBE08. LOVEBIRDS
This Box is owned by Suziecurls and was handcarved by her we exchanged letterboxes.
I decided to Plant this box at Lover's Leap State Park in New Milford, Ct .
The legend of Chief Waramaug's beautiful daughter Princess Lillinonah. She canoed to her death into the Great falls when her white lover did not return after visiting his people. Upon his return he saw her in the rapids and leaped to his death in an attempt to save her.
From Route 7:
Turn east on to Still River Drive (2.4 miles south of Veterans Bridge or 2.7 miles north of the Brookfield Town Line ). Drive ¾ miles passing a 4-way stop intersection (Pickett District Road), going over the Still River then railroad tracks, and just passing the T intersection with Pumpkin Hill Road. The parking area is on the right before crossing the Marsh Memorial Bridge over the Housatonic River.
Park in the parking area and take the Waramaug Loop trail . the River will always be on your left.
Walk until you come to a little shack I beleive its the "indian spring house" . Go left at the green and blue blaze tree. At the 3rd blue blaze look left to a large stump. On the left of the fallen tree find the small pine tree near the end of the tree and look under the fallen tree. There you'll find the Love birds.
