This is my first Letterbox so I hope it is easy to find. From I-91 North or South take exit 18 for Barnet. Turn east and take your first left on Church St. At the intersection of Church St. and US Rte 5 turn North for 1.1 miles and you will see a pull-off on the right hand side of the road. Park there and enjoy the view of the Commerford Dam that started producing power on September 30, 1929 and has been in operation since. The box is located under an overhang in the rocks at the north end of the pull-off. Look for the single white birch tree growing from the rocks and the box is behind some rocks under the overhang directly under the tree.
This pull-off may be closed in the springtime as there are Peregrine Falcons that nest close by and the state blocks pull-off closed. They can be seen in the spring in the tops of the trees across the road. Not sure if the box will be accessible once snow flys. Happy Hunting.
