To get started, take I-90 to Cle Elum and then take highway 903 to Ronald. Turn right on the first gravel road just after the general store and stop at the Coal Mine Trail trailhead. There is a wooden sign and a portable restroom. Head south on the trail (it is the only way you can go), away from town. When when the trees give way to an exposed slag slope directly alongside the trail on your left, look for a huge pine tree in front of the slag slope. There will be a deer trail on the right of the trail directly across from the large pine. Follow the deer trail to the line of rocks, and then turn left. Walk into the thicket until you see a low, moss-covered rock. From here, turn left slightly and take 9 steps towards a conjoined fir tree. Look in the crotch of the tree.

For box 2, return to the trail and continue South. There will be another low slag hill on the left. If you reach the park bench you have gone too far. When you see the slag hill, follow the dead snag up to the top of it and just a few steps down the other side. Look to the right under a small stump.

For box 3, return to the trail and continue until you reach the first park bench. This box is hidden under a large stone beneath the bench. Have fun!
