FINALLY, AFTER ALMOST A YEAR (!) I'VE RELOCATED THIS BOX!10-12-12 BE AWARE OF NEW DIRECTIONS.

UPDATE ON DIRECTIONS 10-19-13

Falling Star is located in the Taylor Brook Campgrounds, near Highland Lake in Winsted Ct. It is now closed but you can still walk around there. The area I planted in is a place I discovered a few years ago, and really liked. So, it took me a while to actually plant there!!
From Rt 8, take the Pinewoods Rd exit #46. Head West, and at the stop light at Winsted Rd, go straight up Highland Lake Rd. At the first stop sign, bear right onto Mountain Rd. The entrance to the park is on your left.
Park at the gate, and head down the path. At the fork in the road, bear right. You will shortly pass an old square post on the right. A little way beyond this is a clearing. There used to be a building here, but it has been torn down. At this time there is a large pile of conduit cables still there. There is a large tree that fell. Head towards this and you'll see a path. Go down this path a short way,and you will see a large stump on the right of the trail. Just past the stump is a large rock on the left side of the trail, covered in moss. Take a reading of 270 which will lead you to a large rock with a 2 sister oak and a hemlock cousin growing on it. Look for the large root hollow, and you find Falling Star.
You'll probably hear brook running. If you continue on in the same direction, you'll come to it pretty quickly. There used to be a nice trail along it, but it is fairly overgrown now. It's still a nice place, and good if you have a dog who wants a drink or a swim. There are other boxes here, so look them up and find them as well. The place is more and more overgrown, so while the hike is quite short, be prepared to bush wack! Happy hunting!!
