DRUMLINE/BATTERY:
Location: Gardner High School, 200 Catherine St. Gardner, MA
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15 minutes
In the spring of 2005 our daughter joined the Color Guard for the SHRHS marching band & we became “band parents”.
This is one in a series of 6 boxes planted in honor of her senior year & dedicated to “band geeks” & their parents everywhere.
Each box is planted at a different site were the SHRHS marching band has competed this (fall 2008) season. We are privileged to be able to travel with a group of hard working kids & staff, who continually amaze us with their dedication, music & high scores at MICCA, NESBA & USSBA shows. GO SHRHS!
As most of these boxes are located on High School property please plan your searches for when school is NOT in session. Better yet find out when each school hosts their home show & after letterboxing enjoy some great music & field shows. Maybe we’ll see you there.
CLUES:
From Rt. 101 (Pearl St.) turn onto Catherine St. (Big Gardner High School sign). At the end of Catherine St. continue straight into the High School driveway, keeping the football field on your right. At the split arrows in the road go to the right and follow the driveway around the school to the tennis courts on your right. You can park here.
Looking at the tennis court with the school behind you, go to the left side and follow the fence toward the tree line. Go to the spruce tree that stands out from the tree line. From the spruce count about 26 steps (every foot) along the tree line, looking for a path on your right that goes into the trees.
From the path continue on your way (not up the path) another 42 steps. Through the trees you will find a stone wall running the same way as the path.
From the first rock you see go 8 steps along the left side of the stone wall, just before the large oak and its twin trunk friend you will find the DRUMLINE/BATTERY keeping the beat.
DRUMLINE/BATTERY: The marching band percussion section that carries drums and marches on the field. It is comprised of snare drums, bass drums & quads.
After stamping in please seal & hide carefully. Box 3 will be planted in Dudley on, 10/11/08.
