This box is in Snow Cyn. St. Prk. off of Snow Cyn. Parkway northeast of St. George. The park is noted for its colorful and majestic sandstone cliffs which are mainly the Navajo Sandstone. This sandstone consists of ancient sand dunes frozen in time. The weathered sandstone creates the cross-bedded pattern between the sedimentary layers. After entering the main part of the park, go to the Petrified Dunes Trailhead.

Start walking west on the trail (dogs are not allowed on this trail). At the first “Y”, bear right on the Butterfly/Lava Flow Trail. At the next “Y”, go right. At the next “Y” (no sign post) stay right. Keep along side the black lava ridge or flow which is on your right. The trail will cross a small shallow wash. It will soon approach a low, cross-bedded sandstone wall. Look to your right and you will see three Juniper Trees in a row parallel to the trail. From the east edge of the middle Juniper, go at about 6 degrees (from mag. north) for about 14 steps. Look to your left and down and you will see three large black rocks under an Oak Tree bush. The box is behind and under the largest rock covered with a small black rock and some plant debris. Be very alert for snakes!

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rocks and cover with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it, or if it needs attention or is missing:
