It is well known that letterboxing has helped many people with their
physical problems. This Trail of Fears series is designed to help deal with mental
ones as well. Some commonly occurring irrational hangups can be
overcome by employing the highly successful treatment known as
"encounter therapy". Compared to consulting a psychiatrist, you can
amortize the cost of your gas for letterboxing in one easy session.

Hoplophobia is the fear of firearms. You can get a shot at conquering this fear while finding this letterbox.

To get to the box find where Sunset Trail crosses the Cannon Valley Trail. Sunset Trail is a gravel road that runs south of the Cannon River from Hiway 19 a few miles east of Cannon Falls to County Road 7 near Welch; whereas the Cannon Valley Trail is a bike trail along the south side of the Cannon. Actually, the two trails cross twice; find the easternmost intersection just to the east of Mile Marker 7. There you will find a rifle range!
Park your bike or car nearby. Find the sign that reveals that the Mid-Continent Gun Club has furnished the rest area. About six paces north of the benches leaning against a tree you'll find a Daisy. Use an impression of the Daisy for your stamp.

Until Nov. 1 there is a $3/day or $20/year pass required for biking or rollerblading on the Cannon Valley bike trail. Otherwise it's free. Of couse, Sunset Trail is always free.
