The Object

Presence is the seventh studio album by English rock band Led Zeppelin, released by Swan Song Records on March 31, 1976. The album was written and recorded during a tumultuous time in the band's history, as Robert Plant was recuperating from serious injuries sustained in a car accident. Although the album received positive reviews from critics, it is one of the lowest sellers in the band's catalogue.

The cover and inside sleeve of this album, created by Hipgnosis, features various images of people interacting with a black obelisk-shaped object. Inside the album sleeve, the item is referred to simply as "The Object". It was intended to represent the "force and presence" of Led Zeppelin.

In the liner notes of the Led Zeppelin Remasters, Jimmy Page explained:
“There was no working title for the album. The record-jacket designer said `When I think of the group, I always think of power and force. There's a definite presence there. That was it. He wanted to call it `Obelisk'. To me, it was more important what was behind the obelisk. The cover is very tongue-in-cheek, to be quite honest. Sort of a joke on [the film] 2001. I think it's quite amusing.”

The location of The Object is on the Horseshoe Trail somewhere between M iddle C reek W ildlife A rea and route 501. Black Swan parked in the lot at M iddle C reek and took E lders R un T rail to Horseshoe and went left. He encountered a large group of moss-covered Boulders on the top of hill. SSE, 10 paces to a 3-trunked tree is where he left this object.

Important Notes:
1. What can I say, it is a Black Swan box. Allow 3-4 hours for the hike and coronary.
2. Make sure you watch for the blazes.
3. It can be muddy in spots, especially after a good rain.
4. Various starting points are available.
5. Eat your vegetables.
6. Hug those you love often.
7. You know what this should say.
8. Hope I can find it!
