Park in the lot for the Plymouth Trailhead of the Old Plank Road Trail on Highway C, just East of Highway 57 near Plymouth. This trail starts in Sheboygan and goes west to Greenbush, running along Highway 23. Roller Skates/Blades, Bicycles, Walking, Mopeds, Horseback Riding, Pets, Skiing, and Snowmobiles are all allowed on this trail.
The total hike is about 1 mile. Start on the trail heading West. The trail takes a sharp turn to the North at the memorial rock for "Bud". Follow the trail to the North until it turns again to the East and runs along Highway 23. You'll pass a bench on your right, overlooking a large pond. Continue East, pass over a culvert, and pass by a wooden rail on your right. Start looking for a small wooden sign on the left side of the trail; it reads "9 MI" but only from the other side. (The sign reads to the people walking West.) At this sign, count 55 steps and stop. Look to your right and see a very large 2 trunked tree with one trunk broken off about at 5 feet high. Walk carefully to this tree, the ground can be wet at times. You'll find the box at eye level, behind some bark, right at the break.
Geocachers are also seeking this box and you'll notice there are several "goodies" inside. As we do in the geocaching world, please feel free to trade by leaving as many items as you take. For more information on geocaching, visit www.geocaching.com.
