This letterbox lives in the woods at the Evergreen State College. You'll begin your quest in parking lot F, on Driftwood Road. The trailhead is located at the far corner of the parking lot opposite the entrance. It's marked with a sign.

Enter the woods. You'll barely have started when you reach your first split in the trail. Which path should you take? To find your way, you'll have to answer a few questions. You might want to do your research before you go, lest you be lost in the wilds forever!

The Evergreen State College's mascot is the geoduck, a strange mascot with an even stranger name. The word “geoduck” (pronounced GOO-ee-duck) means “dig deep” in which native language?

a. Snoqualmie (take the left hand path)
b. Nisqually (take the center path)
c.Yakama (take the right hand path)

Continue into the wilderness. When you reach the bottom of the hill, you'll find yourself at a second fork. You can keep going straight, or take the path to the right.

Evergreen's school motto is Omnia Extares, which is Latin for...

a. “Let it all hang out.” (keep going straight)
b. “Challenge yourself.” (go right)

If the ground is soon clunking beneath your feet, you've made the right choice. You'll soon reach a set of low wooden stairs and a small bridge. Should you take them? Does Evergreen have grades?

Instead, take a less-trodden path. It's on your left, immediately before the stairs. It may not look like much, but keep following it. You'll have to step over a few fallen trees on your way. Hear the creek gurgling to your right. You'll soon reach a strange sort of structure. Is it a tipi? Who knows. Poke around, but don't let it distract you from your final goal – you're almost there! Cross the creek on the fallen log. Careful, it might be slippery! You'll walk up a short, steep hill and find yourself in the Stumps, my favorite place in the forest.

Pass the two stumps on your left, and turn left after the great fallen log. Pass between the two big trees and turn immediately left. You'll find your quarry hidden at the base of the left tree, between tree and fallen log. Dig a bit and you'll find it!

Please be sure to conceal this letterbox exceptionally well, it's a high traffic area that often has a fair amount of litter. We don't want some well-meaning soul throwing it out. I'd love it if you'd let me know when you find it.
