This is our very first hand-carved stamp and our very first letterbox plant - so go easy on us!

Since it's almost Thanksgiving and turkeys will be trying to make themselves scarce, we decided to help one hide!

We had to relocate from Upstate New York in 2005 and our realtor was showing us places here, there and everywhere in between as we nervously weighed our options and fretted about leaving our family, friends and familiar places. As he showed us Canton/Collinsville, we drove over this quaint, single-lane bridge overlooking the Farmington River on Town Bridge Road and fell in love! We've been happy in the town ever since and visit the Farmington River often. It seemed a fitting place to plant our first.

Onto the clue ...

On Town Bridge Road find the single-lane bridge and pull off to park on the side of the bridge that requires you to yield before going over (the other side has a stop sign for drivers). Park on either side of the road where you see a garbage can.

Once parked you'll be able to find the tiny trail between the large rocks where you'll start out on, there's some fishing and game signs posted on a tree above as well. Continue on the short trail as it veers to the left and becomes a narrow gully. Follow the trail out to the rocky river beach - looking to your left you'll see the bridge.

When you've arrived close to the river, head left towards the bridge. You'll see a small sandy path in the brush that will bring you to a fallen tree. Step over the tree and through a bit of light brush until you see a gnarly-trunked tree to your left. When you find that tree you'll also find a large rock to the right, up against the side wall of the bridge. If you reach underneath you'll find a turkey hoping to escape Thanksgiving doom!

Beware ... this area can be very populated with families, fisherman, kayakers and people in general. You'll have to be super discreet and it won't be easy, in the colder weather it should be a bit more quiet. Hide back well so that this turkey stays in hiding for many Thanksgivings to come!

This box includes a small pen and an ink pad.

Enjoy the beautiful area and have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2008!
