This box is located on top of a rocky ridge located behind the Connecticut Police Academy. From this ridge you can see the entire police academy grounds and you have a particularly clear view of the shooting range (which was my favorite part of the academy). My girlfriend and I placed this box here to commemorate my time spent in the 321 police academy class. The stamp is hand-carved by myself and my girlfriend.

To begin, park on Route 66 West, in a little parking lot located just West of the 147 junction. There is blue blazed trailed leading from this parking lot and up into the woods. Take this trail to start your journey to the top.

After a short, rocky climb you will find yourself in front of a wall of wood…go left. The trail will take you along Route 66 for a bit and then will cut back and up, like a small switch-back. Continue on the blue trail and then climb a small wall of rock. Get ready….and climb another. At this second wall of rock you will see “Mike” on your left. The blue trail will then flatten out for a bit and you will see large boulders on your left. After this group of boulders, the trail begins to climb up again. You will enter a small forest filled with small evergreens. Follow the blue trail through this tiny forest and down over the edge of a rocky ledge. You will find the trail going down and then up again. This is the final incline to the top. As you make your way to the top you will begin to get a peek at the police academy located down and to your left. Continue along the top of the ridge, while being careful of the edge, until the trail takes you around the backside of a large rock outcropping. When you are behind the correct outcropping, you will find a tree of about 10 inches in diameter with a single blue blaze located on the right edge of the trail. As you stand next to this blazed tree you will also see a rock with a double blue blaze about 20 feet up the trail. You are very close now and the box is only about fifteen feet away from you. From this point on the trail, look for a “V”. The box is located at its base.

To get back to your car…just backtrack.
