To get to Ragged Mountain Preserve follow West Lane west off route 71-A (Chamberlain Highway) for 0.6 miles. Parking for the preserve is on the right.

Find the memorial high on top of Ragged Mountain. From there take the northbound blue blazed Metacomet Trail. There are at least two steep ups and downs before coming to a large flatish boulder with a blue blaze at the foot of yet another uphill. Just as you’re almost at the top of this one, look for a scrub pine (?) With four blazes on it. Behind this tree is another of the same type that has fallen and come to rest on a ledge. It continues to grow. Go around to the backside of the fallen tree to look in a crevice for the castle. The view from here is pretty darn good but if you continue on blue they become spectacular.
