Books & Company is an independent used bookstore. Here you can find an eclectic collection of used books, an interesting selection of greeting cards, gifts, a cup of gourmet coffee or tea, and baked goodies. It’s a quiet, peaceful place where customers can take some time and sit at small tables in front of a picture window or on easy chairs or a sofa. What you can also find here are small gatherings of people – folks who meet to bead together, book clubs, acoustic music fans who come to listen to local musicians. And now you might find someone who’s come to search for the Books & Company letterbox.
Directions:
Books and Company [(203)248-9449] is at 1235 Whitney Ave at Putnam Ave in the Whitneyville section of Hamden, CT.
From I-91 take exit 6, Willow St.
At the end of the ramp, go right (west) on Willow St to the end (approx 0.7 miles).
Go right (north) on Whitney Ave about 1.5 miles.
Books and Company is on the right and there is parking in back of the building.
11/12/2008: Store hours are Sun 10-5, M-W 8:30-6 Th-F 8:30-7 Sat 9-6.
To find the letterbox, enter the front door. Walk straight ahead, past the sofa on the left and the greeting cards in the middle to the Children’s and Parents' Room. What you seek is tucked in the back of the drawer on the right.
