Girl Scout Troop 38358 Falling Star Letterbox

Why Girl Scouts choose crests: The troop crest began as a method of differentiating troops. The first four troops were symbolized by the white rose, the poppy, the carnation, and the red rose. With an estimated 3.2 million members divided into troops, one can easily see why the troop crest was abandoned in favor or troop numbers. The tradition of the troop crest continues in an altered fashion. Troop crests should symbolize who the troop is as a group, their interests, and their goals as a group.

Girl Scout Troop 38358’s troop crest is the falling star, a symbol of good luck and wishes coming true.

Troop 38358 created the Falling Star Letterbox as part of Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s Council’s Own Letterboxing Patch.

The Letterbox is located behind Pumpkin Delight Elementary School, located at 24 Art Street, Milford, CT. Off-street parking (when school is not in session) is conveniently located right near where you will start looking for the letterbox. Otherwise, you can park along the street.

Clues:
At the end of the street, you will see a sidewalk BEHIND the chainlink fence. Follow the sidewalk until you reach the 24th metal post on your left. Turn right – you will see a small rock imbedded in the ground and a path. Follow the path, passed the larger rock on the left and a tree with messages from the past on your right. Continue walking toward the 2 sister tree ahead.

At the 2 sister tree, turn right and walk 33 paces, passing a tall beech tree, until you come to another tall beech tree. Look behind the small, forked tree – you will discover the Falling Star. After it fell out of the sky, it desperately wanted to return to the heavens, but it got stuck, instead.
