My junior year of highschool I was in a weight training class. We lifted weights twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the off days we ran around the lake . . . all the way through Thanksgiving . . . three days a week.

The run around the lake used to take me about 10 minutes, I wonder how long it would take me today??? Total length is about a mile and a half, all level asphalt. I would have put handicap accessible as an attribute other than the first 2 boxes are a few feet off the path and would prevent anyone in a wheel chair from getting.

On school days, I would recommend parking in the "visitor parking" area. On non-school days you can park around the back of the H.S. closest the woods.

Head down the path, into the wooded area with nice houses to the left. Follow the path to the right when given a choice. Just before you cross the bridge look to your right. You will see a large tree with a single branch stretching to the water. Behind this tree is another gnarled tree that leans away from you. At the base of this tree under some bark is "me"*. This box is nothing more than a film canister with no logbook.

* A Hart family quirk is that we all had little drawings that represented us, we would sign off a note with this little doodle and write "me" next to it. My mom, dad and brother had one as well. You are finding the image that represented me during my high school years.

Now, back to the path, over the bridge, when you can go right do so. Follow this path into the neighborhood, and keep going all the way to the stop sign, turn right again and walk with the flow of traffic (yes, you are on a sidewalk).

You will follow a split rail fence all the way to its end. Just past the fence, look down to your right and you will see a tree with a saddle. Walk to the end of the woods and double back to this tree, for it holds your prize with the "Class of '95" hidden within. This too is a film canister with no logbook.

Once done, keep walking the direction you were going. You will pass where for many years I sat and watched firework displays on the 4th of July, with reflections in the lake.

Follow path to the right and into the woods. The path will meander a bit, then you will see a tree that looks as if it has fallen across the path (but really the path curves to the right). This tree has fallen and has a split up the middle. "Libertyville High School" with logbook, is hidden in the split.

This is an EXTREMELY busy path!!! We past at least 4 couples walking their dogs around the lake on this cold day. Please look both ways before getting the box to protect their integrity.

Oh, for a touch of Wildcat school spirit, go to Google Earth and type in "Libertyville, IL" then zoom into the High School's football field ~ awesome.
