Bay trees have a number of names including amongst others pepperwood, Oregon Myrtle and laurel. The tree is fragrant, attractive and useful in the kitchen and for woodworking. To find this letterbox travel to the California State Park named after the 25th governor of California. Then locate the trailhead for Dunphy Creek Trail. As you walk you will pass four wooden man-made structures, two of which are bridges. Branches of the lovely laurel hang above the second bridge. From that bridge look down and toward the creek at two resting spots. Walk on down and stand inbetween the two resting spots and look up in the direction of the bridge, west end. Then take seven steps in that direction. Just beyond your feet and to the right under a large rock, less heavy than it looks, is The Lovely Laurel Letterbox.
Thanks for coming. This is a damp spot much of the year so please close everything back up tightly.
