The Crystal in the Rough

Sixty-three percent of the 805 square miles comprising Montgomery County is part of the Ouachita National Forest. Population density is less than 10 people per square mile. Montgomery County is located in the west central part of the state of Arkansas and is near the center of the Ouachita National Forest. It is upland, being on the eastern slope of the Ouachita Mountains. The Ouachita National Forest is the south's oldest and largest National Forest covering 1.6 million acres. The lakes, mountains, ridges, and streams are truly paradise for nature lovers. Montgomery County, named in honor of General Richard Montgomery, was organized under the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas on December 9, 1842. Montgomery County was formed from territory taken from Hot Springs County

Find your way to Mt. Ida Arkansas in Montgomery County 30 miles west of Hot Springs.Turn Left on George St. Park in front of the court house.
When facing the front or the building, there is a sign and a small wall. The box is on your left between the wall and the bushs.
Enjoy the crystal but please leave it in the box for others to enjoy.
