This box is the first in an occasional series on "Things I Learned When I Moved to Wisconsin". I am a Yooper by blood, but a Flatlander by birth. I thought I knew Wisconsin, having grown up in northern Illinois but spending alot of time visiting the U.P. and many points in between.
Though DH and I are both a quarter German, we had never heard of the tradition of little gifts for children for St. Nick's Day. And we were very confused and often asked - WHEN is St. Nick's Day? Now we know we need to be ready on the Eve - and that the Eve is December 5th.

Bring your sled to have fun at the hill - or flying discs for the disc golf course.
Go to the Wales Community Park - turn east off of Hwy 83 to Hwy G/Brandybrook. Park near the concession stand. From the northwest corner of the stand, look for a tree at 306 degrees that appears to have three trunks. Go to that tree looking under the fourth trunk, which points to 306 degrees also. There you will find St. Nick!
