A Stranger in this Town Letterbox

These letterboxes are located at the Gov Bill and Vara Daniel Historic village, 20 wood-framed buildings which represent a Texas farming community from about 1880 to 1910. These were originally located 45 miles north of Houston on the Plantation Ranch of Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel, the site of the earliest permanent Anglo settlement in the Atascosito District of Spanish-ruled Texas in 1818.

From I-35
Take the University Parks Dr Exit # 335B.
Take a left at the first red light. The Texas Sports Hall of Fame will be on your left.
Turn Right into the first parking lot. You will be parking behind the Mayborn Museum

You will see the Town Hall building and a white picket fence. Follow the fence along the perimeter of the town. There is a sidewalk on the back side of the Mayborn Museum that will lead you to the pavillion.

To A Stranger in this Town Letterbox:

Box #1: MISSING WILL REPLANT SOON

You have just arrived in town. Head West, your horse is tired, give him a rest. He has carried you far and has paid his dues. Surprise him with a new set of shoes. Facing the building on the left side, find a box or a new set of wheels for your ride.

Box #2:

Head East as the crow flies. You've been out on the trail for awhile and you are needing supplies. Take a step up-- you are on your prize.

Box #3: MISSING WIL REHIDE SOON

With change in your pocket and still a stranger here, go to the local saloon for spirits and cheer. Where the side porch meets the back stairs, a box for you is hidden there.

Box #4:

Feed the local marine life a little slice of bread. Walk to the wooden plate so they can be fed. Stand by the nearest post where the wood meets the dirt. This turtle's bite will leave a mark, but it won't hurt.
