GENIE’S LAMP Letterbox
Created and Placed by: Moo Poo
Difficulty: Easy
Walk Time: about 2 minutes one way
Stamp: Hand-carved
Most people don’t know that one can find a Genie’s Lamp in Utah!
Directions:
Starting from Heber City: Head south on US-40/ UT-40 towards Strawberry. You’ll see a Uinta National Forest sign on your right. A little less than 2 miles down the road (I got 1.9 miles on my speedometer) there will be a large pull-out on your right (you should drive over Dry Canyon and it would be another 0.7 miles from there). Park on the south-bound end of the pull-out.
Clues:
1) On the south-bound end of the pull-out, just as the pull-out thins into the road, there is a metal stake with a reflector. Stand beside this stake (on the side away from the road).
2) Facing the pull-out (the road should be on your right, and a creek on your left), take 20 steps towards the pull-out. Stop.
3) On your left, in among the trees, is a half-torn tree not more than 10 feet tall (the tree has a complete trunk up until about 3 ½ feet off the ground; from there, half of the tree remains while the other half is broken off). Stand beside this tree and face the creek (the road will be behind you).
4) Take 3 steps towards the creek and you will come to a downed tree lying almost parallel to the creek.
5) On the left end, under the downed tree, hidden among rocks, twigs, and leaves, is the Genie’s Lamp.
6) Since I am unable to check on this box, please contact me with an update on how my letterbox is doing! Blazehime7@aol.com
7) Please log your find in to either AtlasQuest.com or Letterboxing.org
