Sod Village Pioneer Adventure
Follow a series of clues through a pioneer village with sod homesteads, a blacksmith shop, a schoolhouse, and chickens. Go back in time as you navigate your way to a letterbox, hidden in the past.
Difficulty: Easy 1-2 mile walk, Moderate Clues
This trail can be found at the Plains Conservation Center. The PCC manages over 1,100 acres of land in Aurora and is a safe haven for many prairie animals, including prairie dogs, coyotes, pronghorn, burrowing owls, raptors, songbirds, and more. Our mission is to acquaint people with the natural and cultural history of the shortgrass prairie. Because we are an educational facility, we ask that people searching for letterboxes come during our public hours to pick up their clue sheet (Saturdays 9-5 in the summer), or call ahead to see if we can accommodate you during the weekâmost likely we can! We are open for scheduled groups 8-4:30, 5 days a week, and open to the public for drop-in visits on Saturdays, 9-5, between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
There is an entrance fee of $5.00 for non-members (free for members).
