Colorful Colorado: Divide

Slogan: Center of the Known Universe

The town of Divide is situated in the middle of Teller County Colorado,. It originally was named “Hayden’s Divide” after Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden who was a surveyor among other things. Later the name was shortened to just “Divide”.
This town is a gateway to Colorado’s High Country, and is 30 or so miles west of Colorado Springs at an altitude of 9260 feet.

From HWY 24 in the town of Divide, turn south onto Hybrook Dr. S. Travel 0.2 miles and park in the lot of the Hayden Divide Park. Look SE toward America’s Mountain: Pike’s Peak. You will see an “informational” sign structure with a roof and a split rail fence. There is no information on the sign yet but we are hopeful. The frame for the sign (that isn’t a sign) is made of metal and there you will find the magnetic, metallic, Divide Micro Box on the top west portion of the frame.
