“ Old Long Since”

This New Year's themed box is back in town for the season!
For those of you who found it last year, it is the same box and stamp.
This holiday letterbox will be available through February 28, 2010
The New Years Eve classic, Auld Lang Syne was popularized by bandleader Guy Lombardo in the mid 20th century. It is an old Scottish song sometimes attributed to Robert Burns, who was first to put the traditional verses down on paper. The words literally mean “old long since”; in our vernacular, times long ago.

To the trailhead: HtaehrasmhoendgPnaarWka

To the box: As you enter the park, drive along the entry road until you see a road to the left leading down to the lower park . Do not turn. Pass this road, and park in the section just beyond. Return to the descending road and you will notice , a few yards after it leaves the main road, a rocky dirt path leading off to the right. Follow this path. If you hear the sounds of Frisbee golf to your left, you’re going the right direction… Count your footfalls, one.. twa... At about 60, there should be a fine old oak looming above to your right. You will know it by its six trunks and a large stone entangled in the roots. Look higher; in a nest of leaves between the trunks is the wee box under leaves, a stone, then more leaves. Please remember this sequence when you are re-hiding the box. Stamp in at the tables near the parking area, doing your best James Doohan impression as you wax poetic about those times lang syne, and perhaps some auld acquaintances..
Please be sure to re-hide the box carefully when you are done to protect it from frisbees and other unidentified flying objects which may frequent this area.
