The "Camp Rio Frio" minibox is located in Hill Top Cemetery, in Tilden, Texas. Camp Rio Frio was a Civil War Home Guard Post, acting as a buffer to protect older settlements from Apaches and bandits, with local men forming the 29th Brigade, Texas Militia. It consisted of picket homes with dirt floors. The soldiers diet included prickly pear salad and fruit, Spanish dagger blooms, hominy, turkey, quail and deer meet. Camp Rio Frio later became Dogtown, then Tilden.

Directions:

From Hwy 16, go east on Lowe St (sign for Hill Top Cemetery). Go about 1 mile, passing baseball field on right, to cemetery on the left (metal fence). Park.

To the Minibox:

Enter through small gate, and walk up the gravel road. At road intersection, go left and count 40 steps. Go left off the road and across the grass for 20 steps to double tree. Between the tree's at their base, is the box, covered with sticks and rocks.

***** UPDATE - New Clues from finder: The Hilltop Cemetery arch entrance is locked shut. Go to next gate opening…drive on gravel road to 1st intersection, go left to almost cemetery fence line. Look for “Buster” Looney on left. 2nd tree behind Buster
