On the road between Sugarlands and Newfound Gap at signpost #5 (labeled the same coming up or going down) is the Cove Hardwood Forest walk. Park there.
From the Cove Hardwood Forest Sign
Take the faint trail ahead and make for the sound of water.
Stay to the right as the trail splits left toward a boulder, but you want to keep going down the path.
A green giant decays to the right of the trail,
A huge helock straight ahead.
Look to the left
Peek through a circle of upturned root
Follow the path down 21 paces.
Stop at a log that crosses the path.
The path splits ahead, Left and Right.
Take neither.
Stand and see a small moss-covered flat rock and an oak tree.
Just past those, a smooth-barked tree where the trail meets.
Look at the base of that tree for the box.
