The Sticky Monkey Letterbox is in honor or the sticky monkey flower native to this part of the world and commonly seen in the summer months. For more info. go here:

To locate this treasure first find the Mendocino Eagle Letterbox. Then keep right on walking as though you are walking right around the lake continuing away from the trailhead. After awhile you will come to a little wooden foot bridge. Pass over it. On the right (southeast) side right after you cross the bridge there will be a bay tree. You will note there are two likely looking cavities at the base of the tree. The Sticky Monkey Letterbox will be in the upper cavity obscured by some bark and a rock or two.
