Lame Duc Visits Arizona Letterbox

This box is in the Coronado National Forest northeast of Tucson. Driving towards Tucson from the east on I-10, take exit 275 and go north on Houghton Rd. Turn right on Catalina Highway. Going towards Tucson from the north on I-10, take exit 256 and drive east on Grant Rd. Turn left on Tanque Verde Rd. Turn left on Catalina Highway. Driving up the highway and after passing mile post 5 turn left into the Molino Basin Campground. Drive all the way to the end of the campground road and park by the trailhead (If the campground is closed, you will have to walk up to the end of the road which is 0.7 miles one way). Walk UP the Molino Basin Trail. In a short distance you will arrive at a “T” junction – turn left. Walk for a while until you arrive at a point on the trail where the Group Site (has restrooms, large ramada and a large fire circle) is directly below you. This point is just before a sharp hairpin left turn. From this point look right up slope to see a medium size Oak Tree. Scramble up the slope for about 19 steps to the tree. There is a large flat black boulder to the left of the tree. The box is under the west side of the boulder behind a couple of rocks. Be very alert for snakes.

This box was placed for the 5th Annual Tucson Letterboxers Gathering.
