Thompson The Train LbNA #45638 (ARCHIVED)

Via route I-65 get off on the 840 loop westbound (south of franklin, north of columbia). take it all the way to the dead end (this will be the 2nd exit, there are only 2 since 840 has not been completed westbound yet). You will dead end into SR 31, turn left. Go approx. 3 miles to the the very first traffic light you will come to down the road, there is a BP station on the corner, turn right. you will pass the post office, city park on your left then come to a 3 way stop. follow the road around to the right. In a couple hundred yards the road will veer around to the left. you will see the old train station ( it is now the town hall).

Park in front of the caboose, walk around the right side to the back and right past the stairs then stop. look for the "watch your step" sign and first wheel. reach up under the corner of the frame and feel the ledge. the box is magnetized to the frame.

be careful of onlookers. there is a bench for sitting at the station. read a brief history of the railroad and battle of thompsons station while you are there if you like. if you are there when the cafe across the street is open, I highly recommend it. the shrimp and grits are out of this world!
