***This box replaces one that went missing a while ago, but it is a different stamp in a new location***

College Station Veteran’s Park and Athletic complex was dedicated in 2003. It includes 5 softball fields, 14 soccer fields, a walking trail, pavilion, and concession stands. Twelve acres of the park is designated as a Veterans Memorial which features a sculpture designed by Robert Eccleston and a garden plaza. It was dedicated to all veterans of the Brazos Valley who have served in all US wars, in November 2002.

You can find the park at 3101 Harvey Road by taking the Harvey Road exit (SH 30) East from Hwy 6. About 1 mile down on the left, turn into the entrance of the park. Park at the first lot on the right and you will see the path to the memorial in front of you. You can find the Army box there.
To find the Air Force Memorial Box you must “travel back in time” to 1872. Facing East you will see a very large, multi-trunk tree almost surrounded by Youpon. Make your way around behind the tree and find a crevice at the base. The box is under leaves and twigs and a large piece of bark.

The Air Force stamp is a poor reconstruction of the magnificent Air Force Memorial in Washington, DC. It is
dedicated to all those who served especially my Uncle, Major George Marshalek who served in Germany and then in Washington DC from 1960 to 1985 and to my brother in law, Staff Seargeant Donald Salzmann who served in the Navy during the Korean War and then in the Air Force in Turkey until he retired in 1980.

PLEASE do not attempt this box if there is a soccer game going on. PLEASE recover it well.
