We are big fans of the Uconn Woman Huskies basketball team, so here is our little fan offering.

Strickland Road Open Space

Blue Marker will work best.

Make your way to Strickland Road in Middlefield. From the West take Route 66, then take Jackson Hill Road (Route 157) to Main Street to Strickland Road or from the East take route 66 to Route 157 to Cherry Hill Road to Strickland Road.

There is a small pulloff for the open space.

From the parking area, walk up Strickland Road heading East until you see the sign that prohibits you from doing everything.

From that sign, head up the hill towards the birdhouse and a nice new bench. When you get to the birdhouse or new bench, take a minute to look around you at the beautiful views of our hometown and the surounding area.

From the bench walk ~32 steps and look to your left. You should come to a cedar tree that has a fence post leaning into the field, then a second cedar tree/fence post. We planted this in the dark, so I'm hoping there aren't anymore combos like that. Anyway, the box is behind the second tree under a rock and a pile of sticks. Please re hide well. My friend across the street will be watching to make sure you don't mess up.

During the summer you may have to bushwack through the hayfield.

If you have a minute or two, head down toward the river, it's a pretty walk and full of wildlife.
