MT MITCHELL IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION. THE BOX IS PROBABLY A GONNER BUT I CAN'T GET TO IT TO CHECK. SO SORRY. HOPE TO REPLANT (AND RECARVE) WHEN THEY'RE DONE
Take Rt 36 toward the beach. Watch for the sign for Mt Mitchell Scenic Overlook. Take the turn, head up the hill and turn right at the top into the park. this is the highest spot on the Atlantic Seaboard.
Behind you as you look at the water is a blue playscape. From the front left corner take a compass reading of 244 degrees and find a trail in the woods. Go to the end of the trail where it goes into the meadow. From the grass, turn and retrace your steps for 11 paces. There on your right is a large tree with a downed log near it and your prize.
This was planted by part of the Troop and if you have any trouble it's not their fault-contact BookWorm.
