~While on our way to another recently placed letterbox, we passed a rather forlorn little preserve that looked like it really needed some company.
It made us think of another forlorn little character that would probably feel right at home here.
The trail is not well worn, but is rather well blazed in orange.

There is no ink in the box.

The stamp was beautifully carved by Dewberry of Texas and gifted to me. I am happy to share it with all of you.

Make your way to the General John Hoar Nature Preserve in Portland. This is located at the intersection of South and Cox Roads. Park along South Road next to the signboard that is leaning against a large, poison ivy covered Sycamore tree.

Go out to the stop sign and walk ~ 16 steps along Cox Road to the trail entrance.

Follow the orange blazed trail along the stream.

You will come to a decrepit bridge that you will need to find a creative way to cross. Very doable.

Bend right on the trail, following the curve of the water and as you start to then bend left, stop.

Look to your right and see a large rock overlooking the water.

Look in the crevice on the top/front of the rock for the forlorn little guy.

Be sure to cover and naturalize the spot before heading on.

Continue the way you were traveling to see "all" of this little preserve...

Have fun!

Flutterby~
