This is a series of boxes placed in interesting, historical, natural spots in the area. They are good places to hike or sit and enjoy the out of doors, and to bring along a bag lunch to have a bite to eat. ENJOY!

Difficulty: Easy, but beware of briars and POISON IVY.
Terrain: Fairly flat and level
Distance: about 250 yards out and back.

Please bring your compass, stamp, stamp pad, and writing utensil, and binoculars if you are interested in bird/wildlife watching.

This box is located on the Luke Chute Conservation Area. http://www.muskingumriver.org/lukechute.html

Location: Morgan County, Windsor Twp., on State Route 266,. From Beverly go north on SR 60 and turn left onto SR 266. Go about 5 miles and as the road starts to climb a hill, look to your left for the sign marking the Luke Chute Conservation Area. From Stockport go across the bridge and turn right on SR 266 and head downriver about 5 miles. Just past the Robinson’s on Blueberry Hill sign, you will see the sign marking Luke Chute Conservation Area on your right. (There is an old barn, silo and little gravel driveway).
Pull into the gravel driveway and park close to the green metal gate with the trail map and info signs next to it. There is a little pathway thru the fence to the right of the trail sign. (The old building to the left of the gate is the old granary.) Go through the cut and head down to the green roofed shelter.
At the shelter, start at the post that is diagonally opposite the one with the yellow sign on it. Take a heading of about 46 degrees and walk out the little ridge to a medium sized tree, at the point.(about 35 steps away). From this tree look downhill and you will see a large old rotting log. Pretty much at the midpoint of this old log you will see, where it at one time forked off. Down on the ground under this fork, under leaves, you will find LET'S DO LUNCH II. You can do your stamping here or take it back to the shelter. Reseal, close, and carefully re-hide the box.
There are more letterboxes out here, but you will have go to their own clues page to find them, and you will have to hike a bit further. Drop me a line if you find any problem and would like to make a comment.

NOTE: This letterbox location overlooks a riverbottom field. It is thought that this area was the campsite of renowned scout Capt. Joseph Rodgers. He may have been camped here at the time of the Big Bottom Massacre.(Just a few miles away) He led the expedition, the next day, that buried those killed at Big Bottom. Two months later he too was killed by Indians, while scouting near Marietta.

NOTE 2: Two of the locals, Dave and Doug, keep an eye on the property. They are very friendly and interesting to talk to, so if you see them give them a Hey! and stop and visit a bit.
