Perky Elk Caravel
Find Motto Fractions.
Follow old road up the hill. Eventually it gets much narrower. When you reach a fork, go widdershins and notice the border to the right of the trail with old pieces of brick. (You can also go the other way and meet up at the same place. It’s marginally easier for a jogging stroller but neither trail is recommended for that purpose. The views aren’t as good , though.) This trail becomes very narrow and has some fairly steep dropoffs on it to the right. After passing a nifty view, proceed through a conifer stand. Eventually, you will start to see beeches and the trees will turn back to hardwoods. You will go down a short but steep hill and pass a large V tree to your right. Just as the trail turns to the right to go downhill, you should see an approximately 10 foot snag to your right. The crown may or may not be in the trail. To the left of the trail a few feet away is a large V tree. SPOR. Please snap all four corners shut and rehide carefully. Don't make me curse.
On the way back through the conifers, we took a detour to the right past an old foundation that led us through two nice rock formations to a series of switchbacks that lead to a really nice view. (Stay off private property.) One of the switchbacks is choked with a large, fallen tree, but if you look carefully to the left there is a way around it. Watch your step. We saw lots of deer scat.
