The "Eagle Bear Tour - 2003" letterbox is located in Mohawk park, near the Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa, OK. Silver Eagle and I (Baby Bear)**** PS - we are brothers for enquiring minds **** started our 2003 journey of letterboxing and Lewis & Clark 200 anniversay sites from Tulsa. This park now has many boxes, and is worth a visit even without them.
Directions:
From I-244, take Sheridan Rd exit and go north. You will see enterence to your right as Sheridan ends. Enter the park and drive to the Oxley Nature Center. Park at the Center if you are going to find all the boxes. This box starts from Parking area at end of Mohawk Blvd.
To the Letterbox:
From parking area, walk back to Mohawk Blvd and turn right. The road is blocked here by a gate. Go around and walk east down the paved road about 50 yards. Veer right onto trail (paved at first), and go about 200 yards to trail on your left. Take that trail across a bridge, then boardwalk, then up a hill to the original road. Turn back (south) and take 10 paces back down the trail. Turn right and locate a tree at 260 degrees. Walk 6 paces to the tree. The box is at the base on the west side covered with bark. Return via the road you were just on (go left).
